The early development of the means to search for ships at sea from the air or to find and destroy hostile aircraft.

The first airborne radar flights were made from RAF Martlesham. A high quality audio recording made by one of the boffins who flew in the aircraft that first made contact with ships and aircraft is available on the “History” page of our website.
