Welcome to Our Website
With great sadness, the Trustees and everyone in the Society send our condolences to the family and friends of Brian Gray, one of our long standing trustees and friends, who passed away recently. We celebrate our memories of Brian through the words of his friends and fellow Trustees, Martyn Cook and Howard King:
-
Brian George Gray (Boysie) a trustee of the MHAS, passed away recently on the 4th August at home with his family. His Funeral took place at Seven Hills crematorium on Tuesday 26th August which saw many people from all areas of Brian’s life attend his funeral.
Brian had a very large family. Coupled to that his business life as a Heating Engineer gave him many friends rather than customers.
The service was held with the sun shining and the Crematorium bulging at the seams, “well I never” is what Brian would have said and probably did.
Over the years customers became close friends and they all came along to Brians funeral to mark his long and happy life.
Known to many as “Boysie”. Brian was very well known in and around the Woodbridge area, where he was born in October 1937. Brian began work as an apprentice at Ransome’s and Rapier. National Service then took Brian into the RAF and whilst serving at Felixstowe he was instructed to help out at the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment on Orfordness. We discovered on the last visit to Orfordness that Brian whilst down one of the two bunkers (known as the Pagoda’s) helped secure our atomic bomb for some kind of test, he kept that a quiet secret. Maybe the secrets act that everyone there had to sign was the reason.
On leaving the RAF he went to work as a heating Engineer at Girdlestones and then for a number of companies until he decided to form his own company which he did successfully. ‘Brian Gray Heating Services’ that gave Brian a life during which his customers became his friends.
Brian joined MHAS on the 6th February 2004. His skills as an engineer helped the society on many occasions. If he couldn’t help, he always knew someone who could. In 2014 Brian became a MHAS trustee with the title of ‘Engineer’.
Brian always had twinkle in his eye, and with his gentle humour became a firm favourite with never a bad word said about anyone. He will be sadly missed by all here at MHAS.
Fly high Brian you deserve it.
